| Description: | Pregnant Mare Rescue is a small ranch located between Aptos and Watsonville in Larkin Valley. We provide a temporary sanctuary for pregnant mares, mares with foals at their side and orphaned foals that are in great danger of going to slaughter.
ELIGIBILITY: Visitors are welcome every Saturday from noon until 3pm, please call to confirm. Children under 18 must be with parent or guardian. | ||
| Mission: | Our mission is two fold. We rescue as many equines as donated dollars will allow. All donated monies go directly toward rescue, rehab and rehoming. Our second objective is to educate the public on how many American horses are being slaughtered for human consumption abroad. The numbers are alarming. It is a horrible fate and no horse is exempt. The more educated people become, the faster the shipping of our beloved American horses to slaughter will end. We feel the American Horse is an Icon, and as the American Cowboy rode off into the sunset, not once did he eat his horse.

Pregnant Mare Rescue Round Pen Ribbon Cutting Please join us on Friday, January 4th, 2013 at 3 pm for a celebration of the completion of Pregnant Mare Rescue's Round Pen, including a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 pm. There will be an award ceremony for the Girl Scout who completed this service project for the horse sanctuary beginning at 3 pm, ribbon cutting at 4 pm, and reception at the ranch immediately following. Please join us to learn more about Pregnant Mare Rescue, celebrate the completion of this project, enjoy delicious refreshments, and meet the horses.
