| Description: | SCR911 has operated as a Joint Powers Authority 9-1-1 dispatch center since 1996.The organization is run as a corporate governance as it is overseen by its executive staff and board of directors. The board of directors includes the City Managers of Santa Cruz, Watsonville, and Capitola, and the County Administrative Officer (CAO) of the County of Santa Cruz.
SCR911 provides emergency communications services to over 260,000 residents within Santa Cruz County. The center currently dispatches the following agencies: Santa Cruz Count Sheriff, Santa Cruz Fire Department, Felton Fire District Santa Cruz Police Department, Watsonville Fire Department, Boulder Creek Fire District, Watsonville Police Department, Central Fire District, Ben Lomond Fire District, Capitola Police Department, Scotts Valley Fire District, Zayante Fire District, AMR Ambulance, Aptos/La Selva Fire District, Branciforte Fire District and Animal Services Authority. SCR911 utilizes state-of-the-art technology to ensure the most efficient dispatching service to the community without compromising response times of the public safety responders. The center also provides emergency medical dispatch (EMD) services to the communities it serves. This service allows the dispatchers to provide pre-arrival medical instructions to patients until medical personnel arrive at the scene of the incident. EMD also provides field personnel with specific information concerning patient condition prior to arrival that better prepares the field responders.
