| Description: | A scholarly consortium devoted to promoting study and enjoyment of the life, times and work of Charles Dickens. The Project consists of faculty and graduate students from the 8 campuses of the University of California, as well as from other major American and international universities. Founded in 1981, it receives funding from member universities and extra-mural government and private groups and individuals. Activities for the general public are supported in part by contributions to The Friends of the Dickens Project.

| Programs: | The Dickens Project is pleased to offer a number of free teaching resources, as well as publications for sale to the general public and to the teaching community. These resources and publications are of significant value both to those who teach Dickens at the middle school, high school, community college, or university level, and to those who wish to enrich their personal experience of Dickens and the Victorian era, see publications list below.
Sponsors scholarly conferences, institutes, and public presentations throughout the year. The public is invited to attend our annual "Dickens Universe", a week-long gathering of Dickens lovers featuring talks, entertainments, discussions and parties. Details about the upcoming Dickens Universe can be found on the web site beginning in October, including the featured novel, dates, schedule, and list of faculty attending. | ||
