ELIGIBILITY: Low income and recent immigrant families. AREAS SERVED: City of Santa Cruz and surrounding mid and north county area. | ||
| Mission: | To empower those who struggle with poverty, exclusion and racism while assisting them to meet their basic needs. | ||
| Programs: | ADVOCACY:
Assistance in resolving landlord/tenant issues, access to health care and employment rights assistance. Translation: Assistance in completing applications for jobs, rentals and government services. Health Advocates/Promotors: a service to encourage and support clients with chronic health issues. PANTRY SERVICES: Food and clothing distribution on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays 3-5pm. Free glucose, blood pressure and anemia screening is provided at that time. YOUTH PROGRAMS: Homework Club for 5th, 6th and 7th graders meets Monday-Thursday. Please call for times. Academic support for 8th-10th graders (up to age 16) meets Tuesday-Thursday. Please call for times. Summer fun: a recreation program for children ages 7-15 provides safe and educational activities for low-income youth. Summer lunch is served to all participants and other low-income youth, ages 0-18. | ||
| Volunteer Info: | Minimum Age: 15. Tutors needed to assist 6-17 year olds with homework after school. Help with recreation activities for Summer Fun youth program.
