| Description: | The Louden Nelson Community Center is a hub for recreational, cultural and social services for the Santa Cruz community. It is home to the Santa Cruz Teen Center, Downtown Seniors, The Senior Computer Center of Santa Cruz, Carnation Cafe Senior lunch program and County Office of Education Alternative High School as well as City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation classes. Annual events include Juneteenth, a celebration of the emancipation proclamation, the Fungus Fair in January, Mad Hatter Tea Party in May and a Mask Making Halloween Festival in October. Local artists are highlighted each month in our hallway art gallery. The Center has a wide selection of classrooms for rent including dance rooms, multi-use room with kitchen and large auditorium. Free parking permits are available to Community Center patrons during Center operating hours and when attending activities at Louden Nelson. Please inquire at the front desk. ELIGIBILITY: Open to the public. | ||
| Facilities: | The Community Center offers a selection of rooms available for rent, including classrooms, multipurpose room and kitchen and theater auditorium. The multipurpose room is ideal for conferences, banquets, wedding receptions and family gatherings. The theatre/performance space is a complete use facility with lighting, sound, stage and dressing rooms. Rental space is available on a first-come first-served basis.
