| Description: | The Santa Cruz County Branch of the Music Teachers' Association of California is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the field of music education. Each year it presents a series of student recitals, artist recitals, and master classes open to the public. In addition, the organization sponsors a scholarship competition, which awards more than $8000 in annual student scholarships and Opportunity Grants which help provide lessons for students of limited means. ELIGIBILITY: Membership is open to teachers in all fields of music. For those who meet association requirements, there are four categories: Active membership is granted to those who hold a music degree or its equivalent and have demonstrated teaching experience. Provisional membership is granted to teachers who wish to complete their training toward MTAC standards. Associate membership is for non-teachers, often representing a music firm, who are interested in the purposes of the organization. Student membership is for full-time college music-majors.
