Senior Network Services is a private non-profit agency providing senior citizens and persons with disabilities with information, guidance and assistance in coordinating existing resources to promote independence and the highest quality of life. ELIGIBILITY: 60 years and over and persons with disabilities. | ||
| Programs: | Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP): Assists with Medicare and health insurance problems, evaluates supplemental health insurance policies and health maintenance organizations (HMO) plans. Appeals denied claims, files for correction of underpaid claims and assesses long term care insurance coverage. Also provides educational forums.
Home Help Services: Assists persons seeking employment in home care and home maintenance and matches seniors needing services with workers who provide home care and home maintenance. Screens applicants, checks references and follows up on all referrals. Housing: Informs seniors about various housing options. Publishes a housing directory which can be downloaded online. The Shared Housing Program matches people who have homes with people seeking affordable housing. Provides introductory meetings, written home-sharing agreements and follow-up counseling. Information and Assistance: Provides information and referral to link seniors with community services to maintain independent living. Explores alternatives and coordinates resources. Visits seniors at home to assess their needs. Informs, counsels and provides advocacy about public benefits. Assists with completion of government forms and applications. Money Management Program: Assists seniors with paying bills, reconciling bank statements, budgeting finances, organizing records, managing medical bills and submitting supplemental medical insurance claims. Registry: Relieves care-givers with dependable, qualified home care workers and informs care-givers about support services. Family Caregiver Support Programs: Provides help to the unpaid primary caregiver who is responsible for the care of a loved one sixty years or older or a grandparent 55 years and older responsible for the care of a grandchild under 18.
