| Description: | DCARA (Deaf Counseling, Advocacy, and Referral Agency) provides counseling, interpreting and advocacy for deaf, late deafened or hard of hearing clients. Provides assistance in government benefits, housing, insurance, education, employment, and communication access. Provides adjustment services to people who become hard-of-hearing or deaf. California Center for Law and the Deaf (CalCLAD) assists people in deafness related issues. Information and referral is provided to outside attorneys.

Services include communication assistance, advocacy, peer-counseling, independent living skills, employment assistance, information & referral, community education, social events and outreach activities. Employment Development Department. 2450 South Bascom Ave., Campbell Monday through Friday 8am-12pm and 1-5pm(408)426-5049 VP (408)369-3666 TTY (408)369-3680 Fax DCARA-EDD (Employment Development Department) office’s staff assist clients in acquiring the tools they need to obtain and maintain employment. They teach skills involved in writing resumes, filling out job applications and successful Job interview techniques. Our staff also educates employers about deafness and the advantages of hiring deaf and hard of hearing workers and the accommodations that make the work site accessible for deaf and hard of hearing employees. | ||
