| Description: | Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County is an independent locally operated and funded affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Our mission is to build affordable, decent homes and provide home ownership opportunities to qualified families who live and work in Santa Cruz County.
HfHSCC is not a giveaway program. Habitat homes are purchased by families who make a down payment and pay a monthly mortgage. Mortgages are provided by HfHSCC at 0% interest. Homeowner families are chosen according to their need, their ability to repay the no-profit, zero-interest mortgage, and their willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Each Habitat homeowner contributes 500 hours in sweat equity towards the construction of a Habitat home. ELIGIBILITY: Be legal residents of the United States and at least one adult must be a US Citizen or have permanent legal residency status. Live or work in Santa Cruz County. Have a household income that does not exceed HUD income requirement for lower income households. Commit to complete 500 hours of "sweat equity". | ||

HABITAT RESTORE is a volunteer-driven home improvement store that accepts and resells new and re-useable building materials, appliances, hardware, and furniture to the public at a fraction of the normal retail price. All proceeds fund the construction of Habitat homes in Santa Cruz County. | ||
