Offers variety of recreation, senior and youth services at various park, school and senior centers throughout the county. Classes are offered for tots, youth and adults.
Mission:The Mission of the Santa Cruz County Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services is to provide safe, well-designed and maintained parks and a wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities for our diverse community.
Programs:Senior services include mall walking, field trips and exercise programs. Youth services include after school recreation (454-7941) and summer day camps.
Facilities:The following park facilities are for rent, call 454-7956 for more information:
**APTOS VILLAGE COUNTY PARK** in Aptos has a hall, a small kitchen and surrounding patio area with picnic tables and BBQ.
**SIMPKINS FAMILY SWIM CENTER in Live Oak has a community room along with the pools.
**HIGHLANDS PARK** in Ben Lomond has a house with 3 rooms,a kitchen and a private lawn with archway.
**QUAIL HOLLOW PARK in Ben Lomond has a living room, kitchen, dining room, large lawn area with picnic tables and BBQ.
**VALENCIA HALL**in Aptos has a community hall that holds 80 with a small kitchen.
Volunteer Info:Minimum Age: 13. Be a mentor to children ages 6-12, by tutoring and helping build self-esteem and trust. Assist this after school program with recreation programming, arts, games, drama, cooking, music and field trips. Contact Oscar Arroyo 454-7923 or prc099@scparks.org
