| Description: | Provides support and assistance to those incarcerated in all county jail facilities, their families, and to those recently released from jail or prison. Services include in-custody visits, property matters, reentry planning, helping families maintain contact with incarcerated loved ones, inmate location, family support and referrals for food, clothing, shelter and rehabilitation. Friends Outside also offers free AfterCare services after release to help with referrals for housing, mental health needs, food, employment and clothing. We also provide basic hygiene, transportation support, clothing vouchers, and assistance complying with probation. Services are limited by volunteers and program's available supplies.
The Friends Outside jail visiting project provides resources, referrals, and information to adults currently incarcerated in Santa Cruz county. The main goal for the jail visiting project is to ease the disruptions caused by incarceration by providing accurate information and support to prisoners.
