A front view of Josephine Clifford McCrackin's house Gedenkheim, on Pacheco Avenue. McCrackin was a magazine and newspaper writer who arrived in the Santa Cruz area in 1880, when she purchased a ranch in the Summit area; she moved to Santa Cruz city after the ranch was destroyed by a fire in 1899.
