The Santa Cruz Public Libraries' Photograph Collection contains more than 1000 local history photographs, dating from the 1860s to the 1990s. Whenever possible, there are notes for each photograph describing the event, persons, buildings, date, and place depicted. The notes also include links to related articles on our Website. Photographs were researched and cataloged by Gary Decker, Rechs Ann Pedersen, and Deborah Stephens; cataloging structure, software customization, and page design by Rechs Ann Pedersen; project assistance from Hui-Lan Huang and Carmen Morones. The majority of the photographs were scanned and restored, under contract, by Don Harris of Photography Services, University of California, Santa Cruz. This project was funded in part by the Annie McCaskill Trust for local history.
